Industry and Applied Track
Real-world systems, deployment experience and applied insight in health and biomedicine.
The Industry and Applied Track invites work on deployed systems, systems being developed for real-world use, and actionable insights from real-world health and biomedical data. Contributions should explain practical challenges and their significance for health and biomedical practice. Submissions may use established methods and come from any organization; opinion and vision papers on deployment are also welcome.
Two submission formats
| Format | Length including references | Review |
|---|---|---|
| Full paper | Up to 8 pages | Two cycles, aligned with Research |
| Extended abstract | 2–4 pages | One round over 30 days |
| Track | Submission | Notification | Camera ready |
|---|---|---|---|
| Industry full papers | Mar 26 | May 28 | Jun 25 |
| Industry extended abstracts | Apr 28 | May 28 | Jun 25 |
Full-paper abstract preregistration is March 19. It is separate from the 2–4-page extended-abstract format, which has an April 28 submission deadline.
Choose a contribution category
Deployed
A system addressing a substantive problem in operational use. Describe its use, design tradeoffs, deployment challenges and measured outcomes.
Emerging
A system or enabling infrastructure being developed for real-world use, with evidence of the intended deployment context.
Discovery
Actionable findings from real-world biomedical or health data that can inform further system, workflow or care improvements.
Topics and evaluation
- Workflow and infrastructure integration
- Monitoring, drift and revalidation
- Efficient and scalable health data systems
- Clinical decision support and operational analytics
- Language models in real-world health applications
- Wearable and remote-monitoring systems
- Human oversight, usability and deployment lessons
- Privacy, interoperability and data governance
- Fairness, robustness and clinical safety
- Prospective, retrospective and live-system evaluation
Submissions are evaluated on technical quality, practical significance, clarity, impact and relevance. State the deployment or evaluation setting, population, time period, endpoints and limitations.
Submission requirements
Use the double-column ACM conference format. Both formats use single-blind review: include author names and affiliations. Single-blind refers to identity visibility; full papers still have two review cycles, while extended abstracts have one round.
Proprietary and protected data are welcome. Authors do not need to disclose confidential assets, but should describe their data, methods, evaluation and limitations as fully as permitted. Work involving patient data or human participants must state the relevant ethics, consent or waiver arrangements.
Do not submit the same or closely related work to multiple ACM-BCB tracks, or concurrently to another archival venue. Accepted full papers will be included in the conference proceedings; accepted extended abstracts will be included in the workshop proceedings. Camera-ready instructions will be provided to accepted authors.
The paper submission portal will be announced here.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to work for a company?
No. The track is open to the ACM-BCB community, including students and academic teams working on relevant applications.
Can I submit without releasing patient data or proprietary code?
Yes. Explain the evaluation and evidence in as much detail as permitted, and make the constraints and limitations clear. Protected or proprietary assets need not be released.
How do I choose between Research and Industry and Applied?
Choose Research when the primary contribution is a new scientific or methodological result. Choose Industry and Applied when deployment, operational experience, practical system design or actionable findings are central.
